Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan Ke-8 STU Bahagian Sri Aman

Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan ke-8 SarawakTeachers’ Union Bahagian Sri Aman telah diadakan pada 18 Jun 2011 di sebuah hotel, Sri Aman. Mesyuarat tersebut telah dihadiri oleh lebih 50 orang dan dirasmikan oleh Naib Presiden Sarawak Teachers’ Union (Zon Selatan), Irie Ambau.  Dalam ucapan perasmiannya, Irie telah menegaskan kepentingan berkesatuan untuk menjamin kewibawaan profesion keguruan dan peranan kesatuan dalam membantu jabatan meningkatkan profesionalisme guru. Beliau menyeru lebih ramai guru muda menyertai kesatuan, supaya suara daripada akar umbi akan didengari.

Terdahulu, Pengerusi Sarawak Teachers’ Union Bahagian Sri Aman, Jee Lian Fah menyifatkan berkesatuan telah banyak membantu beliau dalam pembentukan profesionalisme sebagai seorang guru, bahkan menguruskan institusi pendidikan. Beliau yang telah mempimpin STU Sri Aman sejak tahun 1996 dan berkecimpung dalam dunia pendidikan selama 35 tahun akan bersara wajib pada Ogos ini. Beliau berharap barisan pemimpin yang akan dipilih nanti akan terus sedia berkhidmat kepada ahli dan menggiatkan kesatuan.

Dalam Mesyuarat Agung Tahunan tersebut, hadiah galakan akademik juga disampaikan kepada anak-anak ahli yang telah menunjukkan kecemerlangan dalam peperiksaan. Lebih 20 orang yang cemerlang dalam keputusan peperiksaan UPSR, PMR dan SPM telah menerima hadiah berupa wang tunai yang disampaikan oleh Irie Ambau.

Mesyuarat Agung telah membahaskan dan menerima 2 usul. Usul pertama ialah mendesak Kerajaan melaksanakan Skim Gaji Bersepadu Pegawai Perkhidmatan Pelajaran dengan segera, sebaik-baiknya dalam Bajet 2012. Ini disebabkan oleh Penambahbaikan skim gaji secara berasingan (seperti pengumuman Hari Guru tahun ini) tidak dapat menyelesaikan masalah dan tidak memuaskan hati semua anggota perkhidmatan pelajaran, bahkan akan mewujudkan kekecohan dalam perkhidmatan pelajaran. Skim Gaji Bersepadu yang merupakan penambahbaikan menyeluruh diperlukan segera.

Usul kedua ialah mencadangkan kepada kerajaan untuk menubuhkan kampus Institut Peguruan (IPG) di Sri Aman di bawah Rancangan Malaysia akan datang. Sri Aman sebagai sebuah bahagian masih belum mempunyai pusat pendidikan tertiari (pasca menengah), penubuhan IPG akan mengisi kekosongan ini dan dijangka merangsang pembangunan setempat. Selain itu, dengan tertubuhnya sebuah lagi IPG di Sri Aman dijangka meringankan tugas latihan yang dikendalikan oleh 4 buah IPG sedia ada di Sarawak dan membolehkan lebih ramai anak tempatan berpeluang mendapat latihan perguruan.
