STPM 2011 Miri: Two Schools Obtain Better Results This Year


MIRI: Two secondary schools here obtained better STPM results for last year compared to last year.

SMK Baru Miri obtained 98.36 per cent passes in STPM with top scorer Ngang Jin Loung obtaining 3A, 1B; Alexander Lucas, George Tan Yu Ruk, Kenny Jacob, Pauline Nanie, and Tian Tze Chung (1A, 3B); Mohd Al Hatta (1A, 2B, 1C); Jacquelyn Lumih and Paula Nanie (4B).

The school senior assistant Elisabeth said of 61 registered candidates, 25 obtained four principals (full passes), seven (three principals), 14 (two principals), 14 (one principal), while another failed to attend.

The encouraging results were an improvement of 2.13 per cent as compared to previous year.

Meanwhile, SMK Lopeng Tengah recorded an excellent result of 100 per cent passes in the STPM, an improvement of 7.89 per cent compared with last year.

According to its principal Marcus Raja @ Markus Gatuman, the five subjects that recorded 100 per cent passes were Economy, Geography, Bahasa Malaysia, Visual Arts, and Commercial Studies, while General Papers improved with 95.24 per cent and History declined with 78.57 per cent.

Form Six senior assistant Glynis Kho said the school has four classes for Upper and Lower Six, and that there were 21 candidates with excellent results. The top three scorers who obtained 3A and 1B are Chiew Choon Man, Chiong Swee Pin, and Hafriz Iqbal Akmal Sajali.

The Average School Grade (GPS) of the school showed an improvement of 2.948 compared to 2.511 last year.
